This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. For the first time in history Florence will host the UCI World Cycling Championships and we will be there right in the middle of all the action! This VIP Road Bike program includes unique features and highlights including access to both the hospitality village & race finish. Experience riding the famous rolling hills of Tuscany as you prepare yourself to ride of the “Queen Stage” of the official men’s Elite route from Lucca to Florence. This tour has been specially designed with you, the passionate road cyclist, and your non riding guests in mind. This tour is open to cyclists of an intermediate to high fitness level and their non riding partners. We have included some of our top Tuscan off bike activities.

Itinerary World Cycling Championship VIP Tour 2013 (7 days/6 nights)
Bicissimo is proud to present the World Cycling Championship 2013 VIP Tour together with our fellow partners in Italy who have been operating in the Road Cycling business over a decade. Combine the best of Tuscany while watching the World Cycling Championship in thrilling Florence. Additional highlights of this tour include our final Gala dinner prepared by Chef Duccio Prussi, one of Italy’s top private chefs. Of course, as you have come to expect from us, all lodgings and transportation will be first class. Once you have decided to join us we will be forwarding daily route information for you to begin your training at home for these challenging rides averaging 75 to 100 miles per day. We will culminate this tour with a ride of the “Queen Stage” from Lucca to Florence. On race day you will enjoy all the action and excitement right in the heart of Florence for the finish of the Men’s Elite Race.
Finally, as our way of saying thank you to the local community we will be donating a portion of the proceeds from this tour to the Tommasino Foundation, a well-known local charity to help the fight against children’s brain cancer.
DAY 1 Tuesday 24 September
Arrive Florence, Italy train station/airport and meet our tour representative for your luxury transfer to our four star hotel in Radda-in-Chianti where we will base for the week. We will assist with your bike set up and offer an easy ‘jet-leg’ warm up spin. That evening; Welcome Cocktails and Dinner along with a brief orientation and introduction to our team leader Soren Krebs ex pro cyclist from Southern California. Here we will review our activities and itinerary for the fantastic World Cycling Championship VIP tour.
DAY 2 Wednesday 25 September
Cycle Tuscany on our first day in “La Bella Italia”. After breakfast Riders depart from our hotel, on a guided van supported loop ride of Chianti. In the surroundings of Radda you’ll find many castles and churches. We are heading south into Tuscany, we will be riding up and down through the famous “Sienese Hills” (Creti Senese), which looks like craters and canyons from the moon. After that we will be heading north again, riding through towns with hot springs, vineyards with beautiful villas and majestic castles. Lunch has to be determined payment at time of service.
Non-riders will be transferred to Florence centre by private luxury van to meet their expert cultural guides for a short walking tour of the city and then onto the Uffizi Gallery museum. Tour includes (admission tickets and special VIP entrance). Typical Florentine lunch Included. After Tour and lunch you have free time to explore this beautiful city yourself!
DAY 3 Thursday 26 September
Guided, supported ride from hotel. We are leaving Chianti to hammer down to a beautiful fortified village with the name Monteriggioni, before we climb up to great historical town with name Casole d’Elsa, with a spectacular view over the valley. We will have spectacular downhill and continue on to Poggibonsi before we do long gradual scenic “false climb” up to Castellina in Chianti and further back home to our hotel Radda in Chianti.

DAY 4 Friday 27 September
We ride from Radda up to a historical Abbey ‘Badia a Coltibuona’, and then enjoy a 15 km long scenic downhill to the valley of the Arno River (that flows to Florence and Pisa). Over the river we go and climb up the famous old roman road Sette Ponti (The Seven Bridges), it’s more than 2000 years old and goes through winding turns along the river up to Reggello, famous for it’s olive oil! We will enjoy some great switchbacks down to the Arno river valley again, and cruising forward to Figline Val d’Arno, where we climb up to Chianti-land again, and back home to Radda. In the evening we serve a special cyclist dinner for tomorrows stage.
For the Non-riders we organize a great Brunello wine Tasting including lunch and service of an official sommelier in Montalcino & Montepulciano. In the evening we will serve a special cyclist buffet dinner for tommorows Queen Stage!
DAY 5 Saturday 28 September
In the morning you definitely need a power breakfast for todays ride; The Queen Stage! Early transfer to Lucca, where we ride our ‘Queen Stage’ the Men’s Elite 2013 World Championship Road Race route. We start riding from one of the city gates in Lucca, a town which is famous for never having been invaded, and still has all their city walls intact. We do a first warm-up climb to Collodi, then with the famous town Montecatini Terme (hot springs) in sight we are climbing up to Montecatini Alta, with great views from here! Hammering down to the flatlands again before we are doing the longest climb of the day, up to San Baronto, not far from Leonardo da Vinci’s home territory. Having some fun on the downhills and enjoying some fast flat-riding in to Florence where we approach the spectacular lap Florence-Fiesole that the pro’s will be dealing with…… ten times!

DAY 6 Sunday 29 September
In the morning we will do an early recovery ride. Later we will transfer to Florence to experience all the excitement of the World Championship Men’s Elite race 2013, including special access to the race finish and hospitality tent. The elite men’s race is over 279.6km, and includes several other climbs and a loop ride through the centre of Renaissance Florence before 10 laps of the finishing circuit. The World Champion Cycling circuit starts in Montecatini Terme and Lucca before heading to Florence for a testing and twisting 16.6km finishing circuit that includes a 4.6km climb to Fiesole. The organizers expect over a million people will see the racing from the roadside, with half a million expected to travel to Florence to see the elite men’s road race. Tuscany is the birthplace of Gino Bartali, Fiorenzo Magni, Mario Cipollini and Paolo Bettini, the central Italian region has never hosted the world championships. Who will be the next World Champion? After the race we will have cocktails followed by private gala farewell dinner with photos, videos & awards dinner catered by Chef Duccio Prussi, one of Italy’s Top Private Chefs and we do our Charity auction.
DAY 7 Monday 30 September
Departure day…..Time to say goodbye and thank you for joining us. We wish you a good flight back home or else a pleasant continuation of your stay in Italy. Bicissimo hope to see you back soon on one of our other Cycling Holidays in Europe. Transfers to Florence Airport or Railway station will be made by our Tour guides

To reserve the World Cycling Championship VIP Tour a € 400 deposit per person is required first. In 3/4 days after the booking a non refundable 50 % deposit is required to secure tour dates. The full payment is due 90 days prior to departure. The cost of your Bicissimo Tour needs to be paid in Euros. If you book later than 90 days before the start of the trip, the entire invoice amount must be paid at once see bookings form.
